I took my own advice the other night and just doodled.  I was much to tired to be in my studio and felt like I needed to just be a blob in front of the tv.  Yet, I felt like I needed to put a pen on the paper. So I did both!  I took a very simple shape and filled it with bubbles of all sizes.  It is a repetitive process that needs no thinking but yet satisfied my brain.

It is a fun shape that I will probably cut out and use in an art piece down the road.  But for now it will sit in my small collection of images just waiting to be used.

I love summertime but sometimes the hustle and bustle of it doesn't go well with art making.  So I have taken my art journal and water-soluble crayons to various locations with me and just doodled a bit whenever I had a few minutes.

So the next time you think you don't have time to be creative, just start carrying your journal with you everywhere and you'll be surprised how many small amounts of time you get in a day.  Then over the course of time, you might just let your doodles turn into a fun artwork.
Let any music, colors, sounds or shapes be your inspiration.  Don't worry about a finished piece, just keep doodling and adding color.  Outline your watermarks that you dripped on it.  Color in your coffee cup ring.  Just have fun.
