This past weekend was full of big fluffy storm clouds.  The ones that look like big fluffs of cotton candy.  Cumulus clouds to be exact.  They have made for some really pretty sunsets.

How can clouds influence your creativity this week.  Whip cream on ice cream? A handmade card?

Be sure to email me your photo and I will include it on this post AND on Kathartsis Facebook page.

This weeks weekly wonderful is a challenge of Black & White.  Use ONLY these colors in your creation. You can make a dessert, take a photograph, paint something...whatever your little heart desires.

This week's challenge was especially difficult for me because I LOVE color!  But to go without it was fun.  I may just have to create something else this week just because it was so out of my element.

Make sure to post your Weekly Wonderful on the Kathartsis Facebook page.

The other night I created this self portrait.  It started out as a collage but but turned into a self reflection.  I really enjoyed the process so don't be surprised if you see this as a prompt in class.

The three birds represent the loves of my life; my husband and my two sons.  They are a joy to be around everyday and complete the person I am.

AHHH, a much needed journal page. I feel better!

Since many of you are not familiar with the Creative Journaling process, I thought I'd give you a quick overview of what I do as a Creative Journaling Mentor.

First you will be given a prompt and then guided through the process of creating a page.  The process of journaling is naturally stress- relieving, which releases endorphins, which makes you feel good.
Start your page off by writing down some words or painting color on a page. During a workshop you will be continuously guided through the creation process but if you are on your own you can  listen to music, read a poem, or reflect on your day; you can use anything for inspiration.  Continue creating on your page, anything that comes to mind, follow what the page is trying to say to you.

I teach you about how colors work together, different types of media and layering process.  We then wrap up the session by making any finalizations (ie.lettering, shadowing). As a bonus, if you do not finish within the session, you are guaranteed an email followup.

For more information, please check out my Classes page.

Today I played a little in the journal.  I took the first five words that popped into my head. Then, created a poem using the words or variations of those words.
Picture
The words were rolling, create, cold, fall, shine.  Here is what I wrote.

Falling from water
Rolling, creating waves
There it shined
in the coldness.

It was a fun little exercise and I enjoyed how 5 simple words led me to this piece.  I can't wait to try this one with students!
